Twelve-Armed
Photographing snowflakes for their stunning beauty, it also has scientific relevance as well. It provides valuable insights into crystal growth and climate research and helps in education and outreach. While most snowflakes typically have only six “arms,” on very rare occasions, two individual snowflakes grow on top of one another to form one snowflake with 12 “arms.” Out of all the snowflakes Nathan has seen and photographed, he has only seen a few of these elusive frozen crystals.
