Desert Star Trails
The sharp spikes of a blooming yucca skewer smooth curves traced by stars as the Chihuahuan Desert rotates directly under the celestial North pole, located at the center of the photo. Nathan mounted three cameras on a fixed tripod and then captured frames from the trio simultaneously to later stitch into a panorama. By the end of the night, thousands of five-second exposures were captured over eight hours in order to avoid overexposing the stars and preserve their natural color.
