Cloud to Cloud
Say “lightning” to most people, and they think of a bolt from the sky zapping the ground. That’s certainly the most dangerous kind of lightning, but it’s also the least common form. Most of the time, lightning shoots from one thundercloud to another or stays within a single storm cloud. In this thunderstorm near Big Spring, Texas, Nathan captured a particularly dramatic kind of cloud-to-cloud discharge colloquially called spider lightning because of the spooky web-like pattern it draws against the darkened sky.
