OVERVIEW
While on his first-ever storm chase in Texas, Nathan was witness to this incredible cloud-to-ground lightning bolt that took place a little after 1 a.m. The challenge with lightning is that the best shots require the camera to have its shutter open before the lightning bolt occurs, which meant Nathan had to wait in the complete darkness for quite some time. While waiting for the lightning to strike, Nathan took repeated long exposures with his camera. His patience paid off, as he was able to capture the shocking beauty of this weather phenomenon.
